About Deeper in the Root

Hebraic Bible study for people who want to go beneath the surface of Scripture — and stay there.

The Ministry

Deeper in the Root is the teaching and study ministry of Pastor Mike Slattery, serving the congregation of House of Israel Las Vegas. With over two decades of pastoral teaching rooted in the Hebraic foundations of Scripture, this ministry exists to take seriously the questions that other settings have sometimes discouraged.

The name is intentional. The root of a word carries what translation cannot always carry. The root of a tree holds what the visible canopy cannot tell you. Going deeper than the surface — into the original language, the letters, the movement of a word through Scripture — is not a scholarly exercise. It is a pastoral necessity.

Yeshua — the name beneath the tree in our logo — means the salvation of Yah. It is not a name chosen for decoration. It is the root of everything we study and the One every passage points toward.

Our Approach

We are Torah-grounded and Yeshua-centered. We do not read the New Testament without the Old, and we do not read the Old without understanding the One it anticipates. The Hebraic roots of the faith are not a novelty — they are the foundation.

  • We use YHWH and Yeshua — the names as they appear in the original languages — throughout all our studies and materials.
  • We take the Hebrew roots of Scripture seriously as theology, not as academic curiosity.
  • We trust that the person sitting in the pew — or reading the devotional at home — is fully capable of engaging the real weight of the text.
  • We believe that questions are not a sign of weak faith. They are a sign of genuine engagement with a living Word.

The Berean standard — searching to see if these things are true — is not just a compliment paid to a first-century congregation. It is the standard we hold ourselves to and invite every reader to apply to us.

House of Israel Las Vegas

We are a Messianic congregation in Las Vegas, Nevada, committed to the full counsel of Scripture — from Genesis through Revelation — understood through the lens of its Hebraic origins and fulfilled in Yeshua HaMeshiach.

Our congregation is a home for people who have been told their questions are too many, who came looking for depth and found the door closed, who sensed that there was more in the text than what was being offered. That door is open here.
